| As the Recruitment Chairman of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for taking a look at our website, and for all first year students, to welcome you to John Carroll University! The John Carroll Colony of Beta Theta Pi is a truly unique experience that could shape not only your college years, but your entire life.
Whether you are currently hoping to join a fraternity or you think that a fraternity is not quite right for you, I ask only that you find out more about what Beta is. What Beta Theta Pi is not is the stereotypical fraternity; rather, we are a group of men committed to excellence in all fields of college life. We are leaders in the community taking active roles in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life and American Red Cross blood drives; in the classroom Betas prove themselves as worthy students boasting a Colony-wide cumulative GPA of 3.29, higher than any other fraternity. On the sports fields Betas lead their teams to victory, and in the social arena Betas demonstrate their character through various ways including serenading sororities and hosting the best mixers. We hold common values, and expect our membership to live up to these values as upstanding members of our university.
As a fraternity, Beta Theta Pi is a group of men bonded into brotherhood; however, we refuse to accomplish this in the stereotypical way of hazing, and in Beta Theta Pi there is a strict zero-tolerance attitude about hazing of any kind. Our Risk Management policy clearly states our strong opposition to hazing and abuse of alcohol or other controlled substances.
Beta Theta Pi has provided many opportunities for many of our brothers during their college careers. They have benefited from a large circle of friends on campus and across the United States and Canada, become better leaders due to Beta’s many leadership seminars, and have taken part in the building up of a Fraternity, leaving their very own legacy on John Carroll’s campus.
